Halloween Hikes and Hayrides

Philly’s favorite fall family festival is back! Halloween Hikes and Hayrides is an evening of exploration, education, and fun. Craft magical creations with the Witches of the Woods, make s’mores by the fire, take a hayride and search for nocturnal creatures, chat with our woodland friends on an evening hike, watch Halloween classics outside on the big screen, and so much more! Support the Schuylkill Center during our largest annual fundraising event and experience the woods in a whole new light.
Can’t make it on Friday? Halloween Hikes and Hayrides is also open on Saturday, October 25. Tickets for both dates can be purchased at the ticket link below.

THE PUMPKIN PATH
Help us light up the night when you bring your jack-o-lantern to Halloween Hikes and Hayrides! This year, we’re transforming the Widener Trail into a living gallery of glowing jack-o-lanterns. Show off your carving skills and give your creative creatures the audience they deserve on the Pumpkin Path. If you’d like to join the Pumpkin Path, sign-up while registering and save $5 on your purchase!

All submissions must adhere to the following guidelines:
Pumpkins should be carved, not painted. No additional materials may be added.
Pumpkins should be washed prior to carving in order to ensure there are no chemicals on the surface. Do not add any chemicals to preserve your jack-o-lantern.
Do not place any candles in your pumpkin. We will provide electric tealights for pumpkins. If you’d prefer to add your own light, please make it battery powered, with no flames.
Please keep the contents of the carving family friendly! We reserve the right to remove any pumpkins that we feel are inappropriate for Halloween Hikes & Hayrides.
You are welcome to pick up your pumpkin at the end of the evening or leave it with us for composting
FOREST FRIENDS HIKE
Have you ever wanted to ask a possum why they play dead? Or perhaps you’re wondering what a fox really has to say? Join our environmental educators on a guided hike along the trail to meet some of our favorite nocturnal friends and get your questions answered, straight from the fox’s mouth! Flashlights encouraged.
HALLOWEEN HAYRIDES
Join our Land & Facilities team for a ride around the Schuylkill Center and get a unique angle of the forest on the back of our tractor for this classic family hayride. Keep an eye out for nighttime creatures! They are extra curious this time of year.
CRAFTS FOR KIDS
Get ready for Halloween with some special nature crafts. Craft your very own magic wand or make a custom trick-or-treating bag with decorations from the forest and fields of the Schuylkill Center.
FOOD AND DRINK
If you’re hungry or thirsty, we’ll have plenty of options. Each ticket purchased comes with a s’mores kit for roasting by the fire. Concessions include popcorn, hot chocolate, drinks from Yard’s Beer Garden, and exciting options from local food truck vendors
