2nd Annual Best of the Nest: Birdhouse Competition & Display

Join Peddler’s Village and partners AIA Bucks County and the Bucks County Audubon Society at Honey Hollow for the 2nd Annual Best of the Nest: Birdhouse Competition & Display – celebrating nature, habitats, feathered friends, and human creativity. The Best of the Nest: Birdhouse Competition & Display runs from April 28 through June 8, 2025 and showcases unique birdhouses designed and built by members of the public. Guests are invited to vote for their favorite birdhouses in multiple categories: traditional, whimsical, Bucks County landmark, and natural habitat! Ballots can be cast through our Peddler’s Village Mobile app through May 25: (Android | Apple). Bird Talk: “Birds and Boxes” March 22, 1:00 p.m.  Join AIA Bucks County and the Bucks County Audubon Society at Honey Hollow for a free presentation where you can learn about bird habitats and behaviors and basic birdhouse design principles such as form and function to help you creation of you own special home for birds!

Gay Street Open-Air Market 2025

The Gay Street Open-Air Market returns for 2025 from Friday, May 2nd to Sunday, September 28th! The Open-Air Market was created during the pandemic to give residents and visitors more space to shop, eat, and explore town. Now, it has become one of our most popular events! Each year, four blocks of Gay Street (from Matlack Street to Darlington Street) are closed to vehicles so everyone can partake in al fresco dining and shopping. Restaurants extend into the street, so you can enjoy the beautiful weather as you eat. This year, Gay Street will be shut down for the Open-Air Market every weekend (Friday morning through Monday morning) from Friday, May 2nd to Sunday, September 28th! Note: Gay Street will remain closed to vehicles on Monday holidays (Memorial Day and Labor Day).

Multiple galleries combine with additional “one-night-only” show hosts throughout the downtown business area to showcase some great local Chester County artists. Attendees can discover stunning artwork, connect with fellow creatives, and find the perfect piece for their home! Presented by Founders Brewing Co. and hosted by Downtown West Chester, this evening is free and open to the public. You can pick up a brochure on the night of at any of the participating locations to follow along the route! Many stops will have refreshments and light appetizers available as you browse. Earth Day I Newlin Grist Mill

Help celebrate nature and protect the environment with our Earth Day volunteer event. Each year, we bring together diverse volunteers from the community, including individuals, families, scout troops, and youth groups, to work on projects that improve habitat for wildlife, protect important natural resources, and preserve the park’s plant and animal communities. Past projects have included planting trees, installing bird boxes, and stream cleanups. We will meet to plant trees, remove invasive plant species, repair trails, and improve habitat for wetland wildlife. Groups will be scheduled for 3 hour shifts (9:30am-12:30pm or 1:30-4:30pm). Every Saturday our studio is open from 10am - 1pm for Kid's Craft! No registration is required, Drop in to participate in a seasonal creative activity for kids of all ages. Where: Nightingale Materials, just tell us you're here for Kid's Craft and we will get you started. When: Anytime from 10am - 1pm on Saturdays, unless otherwise announced on our Instagram stories. Who: All kids are welcome! It is best for littles to be past the crayon-eating stage, while our materials are non-toxic they are best enjoyed through the craft and not the stomach. Cost: $10 per child, no registration required. Note: Parents, please stay with your kids through the duration. Our staff is not trained to work one-on-one with kids.
