    In honor of the 16th anniversary of National Fossil Day, Valley Forge National Historical Park is celebrating the amazing Ice Age fossils of Valley Forge with a day of interactive, family-friendly activites and special programs. Learn about mastodons, saber-toothed cats, giant ground sloths, and lots of other incredible critters that walked the ancient landscape of Valley Forge hundreds of thousands of years before George Washington and the Continental Army ever set foot here.     Saturday, January 24th 10am-3pm Winter CelebrationCome celebrate the winter season! Meet Frosty the Snowman and get your photo taken. Create some winter crafts and enjoy fun activities. This indoor space has displays to learn about mammals, bats, watersheds and more. Also, you can visit with our critters, including our rabbits, reptiles, and amphibians! Light refreshments will be provided. The building will be staffed from 10am until 3pm. No registration is needed for this event, please park in parking lot #1 and walk across the driveway to the building.   • Help Us Make 100 Valentines for Seniors!

    Join Plant 4 Good and Sarah James Handmade for a heartfelt card-making event benefiting senior living communities in Ardmore and Germantown. Our goal is to create 100 handmade Valentine’s cards to brighten someone’s day. This event supports The Cupid Project, a national initiative delivering Valentine’s cards to nursing homes every year since 2018. An estimated 1.2 million seniors experience chronic loneliness each Valentine’s Day—many have lost a spouse and receive few or no visitors. 🗓 Saturday, February 7 🕐 1–4 PM (drop in anytime) 📍 Plant 4 Good, 100 Cricket Ave, Ardmore, PA All ages are welcome. Children 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Please sign up so we know how many participants to expect! There is no cost to participate, though donations toward supplies are appreciated. We also encourage reusing and recycling—feel free to bring items from home such as old Valentine’s cards, colored cardstock, or craft supplies.   • Pennsylvania’s Birthday

    The Daniel Boone Homestead Associates are excited to kick off their 2025 season with their annual Open House event – Pennsylvania’s Birthday. Formerly known as Charter Day, this event recognizes the day William Penn received his land grant for Pennsylvania from King Charles II of England in 1681. In observance of Pennsylvania’s founding, the Daniel Boone Homestead will offer an exciting open house and living history event featuring eighteenth century demonstrations, trades, and hands-on activities. Visitors can enjoy open-house tours of the Boone House and learn about the three families who lived there during the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Volunteer will be cooking a hearty meal over the open hearth and discuss the “6 Weeks of Want.” In the parlor, visitors can view an apothecary display and learn about medicine in the eighteenth century. Other buildings in the historic area will also be open for viewing including the Smokehouse, Blacksmith Shop, Homestead Barn, and Bertolet Log House. Throughout the historic area, volunteers will demonstrate spinning, blacksmithing, and gunsmithing. In the craft shop, visitors can try writing with a quill pen and learn about education in the eighteenth century. Plus, children and their families can enjoy colonial toys and games. No admission is charged for this program, but donations are welcome. Please no pets (except service animals) and no smoking on site. Several activities and demonstrations are weather dependent. This program is funded and presented by the Daniel Boone Homestead Associates.
