    Harvest Days is Landis Valley’s signature fall festival celebrating Pennsylvania German agricultural traditions and 19th-century rural life. This beloved annual event features traditional crafts, seasonal foods, music, and hands-on activities for all ages. What to Expect: Artisan demonstrations, including blacksmithing, weaving, spinning, and fiber arts Seasonal foods such as apple butter and cider Hayrides, pumpkin activities, and children’s programming Live music and entertainment Local artisans and vendors Harvest Days is one of the museum’s most popular events and a major fundraiser supporting Landis Valley’s mission.

    Sunday, October 11 Free with pre-registration First Session: 1–2 p.m. Second Session: 2–3 p.m. There are two sessions available for this event. Please select the correct session you wish to attend when registering for this event. For this month’s Unplugged Family Day, families will make a woven spider web craft inspired by the season and the upcoming exhibition Barbara Moon Boertzel: Listening to Time. Please note: This is not a drop-off program. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.

  • Heritage Day Fall Festival

    The Daniel Boone Homestead Associates are excited to celebrate the arrival of fall with the Homestead’s annual Heritage Day event. Heritage Day features a variety of colonial and early American demonstrations, trades, and hands-on activities. This year’s highlights include blacksmithing and gunsmithing, candle dipping and quill pen writing, leatherworking, open hearth cooking, spinning, and an eighteenth-century fashion display. Plus, Stone House History will be returning this year with their tape weaving and wood carving demonstrations. The event also includes a variety of artisan craft and specialty food vendors plus fall activities for children like pumpkin painting. The Boone House and the Bertolet Log House will be open for tours as well. And because one event is not enough and we want to keep celebrating America250 all year long, we’ll be expanding this year’s Heritage Day to include some 250th-themed demonstrations and activities. Check back for more details as they become available.

    Back by popular demand! On Diner Day, from 10 am to 1 pm, sit inside our beautifully preserved Fegely's Reading Diner and enjoy coffee and homemade pie. Coffee and pie are available for purchase at 1938 prices--that means a nickel for a cup of coffee and a quarter for a slice of pie! Can’t beat those prices! Regular Contribution rates apply.

    For many families in eighteenth century America, Christmas was a time for celebration, feasting, and frivolity. Join us at the Daniel Boone Homestead and experience Christmas as it was almost 300 years ago with your family and friends. Visitors can learn about English and Pennsylvania German holiday celebrations, visit with Santa and the Belsnickel, and enjoy Christmas crafts and activities. Throughout the historic area, visitors will hear about the different Christmas traditions of the families who lived on the property throughout the eighteenth century as they tour the festively decorated buildings.
