Kids join us for a fun night out! We will be painting this Bunny carrot-mobile! *This is a parent drop off workshop. Parents drop off their children and come back to pick them up once the workshop is over at 8pm. Project will be available for pick up 10 days after the workshop.
Join our partners at PlayIn Time Productions for a weekly, interactive musical program geared toward children up to age five and their parents or caregivers. Instructor Miss Virginia will guide you and your child through warming up their bodies with movement, practicing listening skills using activities like freeze dances, and jamming to classic and new tunes. PlayIn Time’s Music Circles build musical connection and community through shared fun. Get ready to dance, jam, and learn. Things to know: Classes will run on Friday mornings from 10:15am – 11:00am. Join for the whole series or just for one or two sessions. Registration is available on PlayIn Time’s website, linked below. If you have them, you are welcome to bring your own shakers, sticks, or other percussive instruments. Classes will be held outside on the Great Lawn so bring a blanket or lawn pad to sit on. Join us as HKP welcomes Critter Connections for an unforgettable, up-close reptile experience with a special focus on lizards. Children will have the opportunity to safely hold and interact with a variety of reptiles while learning about these incredible creatures in an engaging, hands-on setting designed just for littles. Each ticket includes the live reptile presentation and interaction, guided hands-on time with the lizards, photo opportunities, and open play + snacks/bev. Limited availability.

Bring the pups to Scott Arboretum and Gardens’ inaugural Dogwood Doggie Day Out! This casual, drop-in event is for people and their leashed pets to explore the blooms of spring, including our flowering dogwood trees. Activities will include a dog-friendly guided walking tour of the dogwoods, self-guided stroll, and interactive activities to learn about dogwood trees. Meet adoptable dogs from a local shelter and stop by the membership table for a special dog-themed giveaway. A limited number of dogwood trees and doggie goodies will be available, while supplies last. FOR ALL AGES Connect your family with the outdoors on this fun, interactive nature exploration designed to spark curiosity and wonder. Using simple tools like magnifying glasses, you will uncover the Arboretum’s plants, animals, and other seasonal highlights that bring the woodland trails to life. About your guides: Forest Knight is one of Tyler’s Lead Educators. They help run Tyler’s field trips and summer camp programs. They have a love of nature and have worked in the outdoor education field for 4+ years. Barbara Frank is a PA Master Naturalist, a Tyler-trained docent, a yoga teacher, an artist, and a true lover of nature in all of its manifestations. She leads tours for children and adults. PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED This program is best suited for elementary school-aged children accompanied by an adult. Family and siblings of any age are welcome. All children must be accompanied by a registered adult. Check in at the Visitor Center, where you’ll meet your guide. As with any walk at Tyler, sturdy shoes are suggested. PLEASE NOTE: Strollers may not be ideal on some of our trails. We recommend a carrier if you plan to bring an infant or young child. Weather or other factors may adjust the day’s topic, but nature will always shine through! In case of inclement weather, the tour will move indoors. MEMBERS: FREE NON-MEMBERS: $18 per adult; $10 per child ages 3-17; children two and under are free and do not need to be registered. Admission is included in your price, so feel free to stay the day! From emergency vehicles to construction equipment and more, this is a fun and interactive way for children (and adults!) to see these awesome trucks in action and meet the people who operate them. Create a theme song for a favorite show, book, or game using GarageBand on iPad. We’ll cover rhythm basics, and kids will experiment with drums, add prerecorded loops, and remix their theme song. Join SLNC’s awesome Environmental Educator, Tie Matecha, for this great class! Learn how to fold origami butterflies and herons. We will discuss the origins of the ancient art of origami as well as the ecological importance of butterflies and Great Blue Herons. This event is designed for adults and children ages 8+. Join us for a hands-on stained glass workshop where you’ll learn the foundational skills behind this timeless art form. Under the guidance of Annemarie of GlassHen—a small, independent stained glass studio known for crafting one-of-a-kind pieces using traditional Tiffany-style methods—you’ll get hands-on experience with cutting, grinding, foiling, and soldering stained glass. (The glass for your final piece will be pre-cut.) Each student will create a flower out of stained glass. This beginner-friendly workshop is open to participants ages 12+ and makes a wonderful mom/dad-and-me outing.
