  • 2026 Paoli Battlefield Heritage Day

    We invite you to come out to the Paoli Battlefield on Saturday, September 26th, from 11am to 4pm and enjoy this Family Fun event!! Enjoy our American Military Timeline with the help of our friends at Historical Military Impressions. Stroll through each impression and see how the soldiers dressed and what they carried into battle. Feel free to ask questions and learn about our brave fighting veterans. Stop by and visit with Benjamin Franklin (aka Mike Kochan), as he shows you the experiments that Benjamin Franklin did in the 1700’s. Mike has built replicas of some of his experiments for the Franklin Institute, and the Franklin Court Museum, both in Philadelphia. Noah Lewis will be there to share the story of Ned Hector, bombardier and member of the Continental army. He helped man the guns and Brandywine and was honored by Norristown naming a street Hector Street. Visit and enjoy other historical sites as they explain their connection to the history and culture of the area. You’d be surprised how some of these sites were created and what they do to celebrate their special day at their site. We are very happy to welcome back the USO which has helped support our troops all across the nation. Learn about the great programs they do to help our soldiers and their families. We will have a food trunk or two to help satisfy your appetite while you soak in the history. We have other crafters, vendors, and others to help you spend the day with us. To close out the day, we transition to our honor ceremony where we place wreaths at the gravesite of the 52 fallen men of the Battle of Paoli. We will do the wreath laying, firing salute, bagpipes, and taps to help honor these men, and all of our armed forces of the United States of America.

  • Paint by the Pond (Kids)

    Is your wild child also a budding artist? Free their inspiration in nature! Overlooking Angelica Creek Park's pond, each child will be situated with their own easel and painting supplies to let their creativity soar. Light refreshments will also be available to sustain their artistic endeavors. It's bound to be an afternoon of creativity, color, and natural inspiration! This program will run concurrently with an adults-only Paint by the Pond program, allowing caregivers to enjoy an afternoon of relaxed painting as well! Please note, children may only be dropped off and left under the supervision of Berks Nature staff ONLY if their caregiver is attending the adults-only Paint by the Pond program. Otherwise, a parent or guardian must remain with their child during this creative adventure.   • Pumpkin in Paradise

    Our annual Fall fest train returns again this year! Pumpkins in Paradise at the Strasburg Rail Road, America’s longest running short line rail road, is a fall event featuring a 45-minute steam train ride through the beautiful Lancaster countryside, paired with a 40 minute stop at Groff’s Picnic Grove. Guests will enjoy fall-themed games, live music, and children will even receive a complimentary pumpkin! This family-friendly tradition returns this year on September 26. Be sure to arrive at the station at least 30 minutes before departure to ensure a smooth boarding experience and remember to prepare accordingly as this event will be rain or shine.   • First Friday Cruise-Ins

    Meet at the Museum for a low-key cruise-in from 4:00 - 7:00 pm! Held in the Museum parking lot, adjacent to the Museum entrance. No registration is required. This event is FREE for both vehicles cruising in and spectators. The Museum will be OPEN with extended hours (except on July 3rd); regular contribution rates apply.

  • The Haunting of Pumpkin Junction

    Strasburg Railroad 301 Gap Road, Ronks, PA, United States

    Grab your family and head on down to the 1978 annual Pumpkin Junction Fall Festival, where we celebrate the last Fall train with games, food and, most importantly, the yearly Pumpkin carving contest. But when the contest is mysteriously sabotaged, our gang of amateur sleuths make it their mission to uncover the mystery that lies behind this year’s old tradition. Be a part of the mystery as our group tries to solve the case of the Haunting of Pumpkin Junction. Our show begins 15 minutes before boarding, at our Town Square Stage right at the heart of the station, so please plan to arrive 30 minutes before departure so you don’t miss even one second of this mysterious adventure! The show will continue aboard our beautiful historic train cars and conclude back at the station, so stick around after deboarding and head back over to the Town Square Stage for the haunting conclusion of our mystery.

  • Spiders Campfire 2026

    Join us for our Spiders Campfire on Friday, October 2nd from 7 - 9 pm! Come appreciate the artistic ability of spiders, who spin elaborate webs of all sizes and designs. Enjoy a toasted marshmallow around the campfire and look for web-spun masterpieces outside on our trails. This campfire program will feature a guided night hike around our trails by educator Chris Egnoto and an educational lesson on spiders and arachnids. The program will begin at our campfire circle. Admission is $3 for members and $5 for non-members. Pre-registration is required!

  • Nature Explorers: Art In The Park (6+ years)

    Drop your kids off at The Nature Place for a full day of exploring Angelica Creek Park, scientific experiments, and other hands-on activities perfect for the curious, adventure-seeker! Best for children aged 6+. Please pack a lunch and prepare your child appropriately for the outdoors and weather.  In October, the Nature Explorers will find their muse in nature and get creative with painting, journaling, and nature mandalas! Each activity will challenge the Explorers to look closely at colors, shapes, and patterns found in the natural world while making "leave no trace" art that does not harm the environment. This hands-on day blends creativity, outdoor exploration, and gentle lessons in stewardship, giving kids a chance to express themselves while appreciating the space around them. Scholarships are available! We believe nature should be accessible and welcoming to all. With the support of our donors, Berks Nature is able to offer scholarships to children hoping to participate in the Nature Explorers program that would otherwise be financially unable to.   • Family Explorers

    FOR ALL AGES Connect your family with the outdoors on this fun, interactive nature exploration designed to spark curiosity and wonder. Using simple tools like magnifying glasses, you will uncover the Arboretum’s plants, animals, and other seasonal highlights that bring the woodland trails to life. About your guide: Forest Knight is one of Tyler’s Lead Educators. They help run Tyler’s school field trips and summer camp programs. They have a love of nature and have worked in the outdoor education field for 4+ years.  RE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED The program is best suited for elementary school-aged children accompanied by an adult. Family and siblings of any age are welcome. Check in at the Visitor Center, where you’ll meet your guide. As with any walk at Tyler, sturdy shoes are suggested. PLEASE NOTE: Strollers may not be ideal on some of our trails. We recommend a carrier if you plan to bring an infant or young child. Weather or other factors may adjust the day’s topic, but nature will always shine through! In case of inclement weather, the tour will move indoors. MEMBERS:  FREE NON-MEMBERS: $18 per adult; $10 per child ages 3-17; children two and under are free and do not need to be registered. Admission is included in your price, so feel free to stay the day!     “Oh, look. Another glorious morning. Makes me sick!” We’re hosting a series of special drive-in movie screenings in the Zoo’s parking lot! Our first Drive-In Zoovie in October is Hocus Pocus (1993). See below for tickets and details.     Attention all young heroes! Join us Saturday, October 10 from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM as we learn all about safety and the heroes that serve our community! Fire Smart – Safety Day is presented by Rush Order Tees/Ninja Transfers. This event is free to attend with zoo admission. Community Passes will not be accepted. As always, First responders receive free zoo admission. Current police officers, firefighters, and EMT personnel must show valid credentials at the admission counter. Fire and police badges, identification cards, and responders in uniform are accepted only if accompanied by photo ID.
