Insects, spiders, crustaceans, oh my! This weekend celebrates everything arthropods. Enjoy a variety of activities and displays in our gardens, patio, and Butterfly House. You can look forward to live arthropod displays, honeybee meet & greet, buggy crafts, and more!Admission is $8/person. CNC Members and children ages 3 and under are FREE. Join us for Peach Festival on Saturday & Sunday, August 1 & 2 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., a peach lover’s paradise with plenty of peachy treats, live entertainment, and scenic strolls through our summer gardens (with sand sculptures!). Peddler’s Village shops will be open until 8 p.m. on Saturday. Admission and parking are free.
We’re excited to partner with Highland Orchards for a meet and greet event on Saturday, August 1st, from 12 - 2 PM. This family-friendly weekend event features live music, food trucks, a beer garden, pick-your-own fruit, and us! Take a break from the festivities to visit with some of our awesome adoptable dogs and dedicated volunteers. Our pups are always up for belly-rubs, and our volunteers will gladly answer your questions about our rescue, adoption process, and foster/volunteer opportunities. Please join us - you might just meet your next best friend! Our Meet & Greets are a great way to get to know us, ask questions, and meet some of our adoptable dogs. While we do not process adoptions at these events, approved adopters can meet potential forever family members and bring them home at an adoption appointment later that same day if he/she is a fit with the whole family. Already an approved adopter and hoping to meet your new family member at this event? Please bring cash or check for the adoption fee. For those just considering adopting, our Meet & Greets are a great way to get a feel for the types of dogs we have available. And for those who just LOVE dogs and want to pet them or learn about fostering/volunteering opportunities, we’re here for you, too! Interested in adopting? First Presbyterian Church of Strasburg has offered preschool services for 55 years! Come celebrate this amazing anniversary with our Family Fun Fest! This event is FREE to all attendees. There will be bounce houses for the kids, balloon animals/art, face painting, games with prizes, and more. Free food includes hotdogs, pretzels, chips, cotton candy, water, and slushies. Our parking lot will be roped off, allowing for more fun space, but convenient parking is available at the Methodist/ACTS Covenant church, Bachman-Snyder Funeral Home, and St. Michael's Lutheran Church farther down East Main Street.

Families are encouraged to join in on the fun, as there will be an abundance of activities suitable for all ages. Learn about how owls are well adapted as important nocturnal raptors that keep rodent populations in check. To celebrate America's 250th birthday, Kutztown Day in the Kutztown Park, the annual celebration of the founding of Kutztown, focuses on the Kutztown area's role in the colonial era and the early days of our country. A special history trail featuring photos and facts about 18th century Kutztown winds through a playground for the kids. Several bands will play music throughout the day. Bring a picnic lunch or purchase from several food vendors. Games and contests will entertain everyone. The day ends with a spectacular fireworks display.
