    Fun is the target for this basic archery class! First, learn how to safely participate in this sport from Berks Nature's certified instructor the head outside for some real target practice.     Our 60th Annual Duryea Day Antique & Classic Car & Truck Show and Flea Market will be held Saturday, September 5, from 9 am to 3 pm at Boyertown Community Park. Hundreds of vehicles will be on display throughout the park, and shuttle service is available between the Park and Museum through the duration of the event.  Pre-registration and day of show registration for show vehicles available—all makes, models, and years are welcome.  Spectator admission is $10 for adults, free for ages 12 & under.  Spectator admission includes both the Park and the Museum.

As the moths gather, we'll take a closer look at the different species and demonstrate how to identify and observe these delicate insects in a safe and respectful way. Throughout the night, join in discussions about light pollution and the impacts our brightly lit homes can impact moth behavior, navigation, and survival.     Expressive Path’s Annual Art in the Park, Arts & Music Festival will be on September 12, 2026 inside the zoo! Guests can enjoy live music, vendors, food, animal greets, student performances and art for the community. Zoo Brew Beer Garden will be open for guests 21+. This event is free to attend with zoo admission. Norristown residents (19401) can attend Art in the Park from 10 AM-4 PM for free – registration is required. This event benefits a local organization, Expressive Path. “Expressive Path’s primary goal is helping adolescents who may otherwise not have the opportunity to participate in the arts.     “E.T. phone home.” We’re hosting a series of special drive-in movie screenings in the Zoo’s parking lot! Our September Drive-In Zoovie is E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.   • Early American Candle Making Workshop

    Daniel Boone Homestead 400 Daniel Boone Rd, Birdsboro, PA, United States

    Join the Daniel Boone Homestead Associates for their first annual Early American Candle Making & Educational Workshop with Heritage Art and Craft Studio. Journey back in time with Greg and Peggy Geesaman to learn the art of crafting candles with natural beeswax. Participants will take part in the careful and significant process of candle dipping, a traditional Early American method, as they create your own double wick 100% beeswax hand-dipped candle. In addition, participants will make a 5″ cinnamon scented display ornament, by a method similarly used by German Lebkuchen Bakers in the sixteenth century from a Stoneware Cookie mold (designs vary). A Historic Presentation from Colonial period interpreters during class will reveal some interesting facts about Early American Living and the history of candle making in the eighteenth century. Heritage Art and Craft Studio is co-owned by Greg Geesaman and Peggy Allen-Geesaman. For over fifty years, Greg has dedicated himself to the study of American History, as well as gardening, landscaping, agriculture, and environmental preservation. He shares his knowledge with others through educational seminars, classes, and workshops. Peggy, a native of Berks County, has dedicated over 30 years to teaching art and crafts. Before launching her own business in the 1990s, she worked in retail marketing. While she offers a wide range of classes, her true passion lies in Traditional American crafts. She stays informed of current historical trends as a member of the Historical Society of Early American Decoration (HSEAD). This is a beginner-level workshop and is open to all ages if accompanied by an adult.   • Community Day at the John James Audubon Center

    John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove 1201 Pawlings Road, Audubon, PA, United States

    Sunday, September 20th is Community Day at the John James Audubon Center. Everyone is invited to enjoy food, drinks, and music as we celebrate cultural connections to nature, fall migration, and birds’ unique ability to unite us all. Festivities will include traditional Mexican folk dance, classical Indian dance, activities for kids, bird-themed facepainting and henna tattoos, food trucks, local breweries, canoeing, and more! This year’s Community Day will also coincide with our new fall/winter art exhibit. Tree of Life is a solo exhibition by Natessa Amin featuring bird-inspired artworks from her Split Inheritance series. The project considers the "tree of life" as a symbol that appears across cultures, generations, and histories. A selection of Árboles de la Vida (trees of life) sculptures created by local community art circles and Las Artivistas from CCATE - Center of Culture, Art, Training and Education - will also be on view as part of the Tree of Life exhibition. These Mexican clay sculptures were originally created for religious purposes, but many have expanded to explore themes such as the duality of life and death and humanity’s relationship with nature, while still retaining traditional elements like Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden.
