    When schools are closed, we are open! Keep curious young minds and busy bodies active with the Schuylkill Center Day-Off Camp. Trained educators lead students grades K-6 on unique nature-themed explorations that take advantage of our science lab, Discovery Center, and 365 acres of beautiful wooded trails, streams, and ponds. The theme for this week of spring break Day-Off Camp is Nature Detectives! Each day at camp will feature activities focused on finding and interpreting nature’s clues like tracks, scat, owl pellets, signs of new plant growth, beetle galleries and woodpecker holes in trees, and more! Come search for clues and unravel nature’s mysteries with us! Please bring a packed lunch, water bottle and an extra set of clothes. Wear weather-appropriate clothing that can get dirty. This April Fools' Day, we’re heading into the McKaig Nature Education Center for a hike that’s 100% real (we promise), even if the date feels suspicious. With sunset at 7:25 PM and the moon rising at 7:19 PM, we’ll be timing our departure from the Roberts Elementary School parking lot just as the shadows start to play tricks on your eyes.     Join our partners at PlayIn Time Productions for a weekly, interactive musical program geared toward children up to age five and their parents or caregivers. Instructor Miss Virginia will guide you and your child through warming up their bodies with movement, practicing listening skills using activities like freeze dances, and jamming to classic and new tunes. PlayIn Time’s Music Circles build musical connection and community through shared fun. This casual, drop-in event is for people and their leashed pets to explore the blooms of spring, including our flowering dogwood trees. Activities will include a dog-friendly guided walking tour of the dogwoods, self-guided stroll, and interactive activities to learn about dogwood trees. Meet adoptable dogs from a local shelter and stop by the membership table for a special dog-themed giveaway. A limited number of dogwood trees and doggie goodies will be available, while supplies last.
