Join a guided walk or explore at your own pace as early blooms, birds, and longer days begin to return. With light activities for children, free marshmallows, and plenty of space to wander, it’s a simple and joyful way to reconnect with nature and with each other. Whether you stay for an hour or linger all evening, Fireside offers a welcoming chance to experience Tyler in a new season! Bring the pups to Scott Arboretum and Gardens’ inaugural Dogwood Doggie Day Out! This casual, drop-in event is for people and their leashed pets to explore the blooms of spring, including our flowering dogwood trees. Activities will include a dog-friendly guided walking tour of the dogwoods, self-guided stroll, and interactive activities to learn about dogwood trees. Meet adoptable dogs from a local shelter and stop by the membership table for a special dog-themed giveaway. A limited number of dogwood trees and doggie goodies will be available, while supplies last. Events Schedule:  9:30 am – 12 pm: Dogwood activity station Scott Arboretum & Gardens member doggie swag giveaway (one per membership, while supplies last) Visit with adoptable dogs from a local shelter Dogwood tree giveaway Self-guided tour 10 – 11 am: Dog-Friendly Dogwood Tour Program Details:  This event will be held in the Wister Center Parking Lot. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held inside the Wister Center. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Bring your favorite leashed pup(s) for a dog-friendly walk led by our horticulture staff. This tour will feature blooming dogwoods, beautiful scenery, and a relaxed, leashed stroll perfect for enjoying springtime with your furry friends. This event is free, but registration is encouraged to receive program updates. Tours begin in front of the Scott Arboretum offices (Cunningham House). FOR ALL AGES Connect your family with the outdoors on this fun, interactive nature exploration designed to spark curiosity and wonder. Using simple tools like magnifying glasses, you will uncover the Arboretum’s plants, animals, and other seasonal highlights that bring the woodland trails to life. About your guides:  Forest Knight is one of Tyler’s Lead Educators. They help run Tyler’s field trips and summer camp programs. They have a love of nature and have worked in the outdoor education field for 4+ years.  Barbara Frank is a PA Master Naturalist, a Tyler-trained docent, a yoga teacher, an artist, and a true lover of nature in all of its manifestations. She leads tours for children and adults.  PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED This program is best suited for elementary school-aged children accompanied by an adult. Family and siblings of any age are welcome. All children must be accompanied by a registered adult. Check in at the Visitor Center, where you’ll meet your guide. As with any walk at Tyler, sturdy shoes are suggested. PLEASE NOTE: Strollers may not be ideal on some of our trails. We recommend a carrier if you plan to bring an infant or young child. Weather or other factors may adjust the day’s topic, but nature will always shine through! In case of inclement weather, the tour will move indoors. MEMBERS:  FREE NON-MEMBERS: $18 per adult; $10 per child ages 3-17; children two and under are free and do not need to be registered. Admission is included in your price, so feel free to stay the day! GUEST PASS HOLDERS: (for non-members only): FREE. Please give your guest passes to the Visitor Center Associate at check-in, or inform them that you are accompanying a Family or higher-level member as their guest. This program is free with your guest pass admission, so feel free to stay as long as you’d like after the program!
