The West Chester Public Library is proud to present their Halloween Door Tour, sponsored by Monkey Fish Toys. For a minimum donation of $15, receive a printable map with participating locations in the West Chester Borough. These porches and doors will be SPOOKTACULAR! Visit the locations from October 17th through October 31st. Please respect the neighborhood and locations as you walk by. Your map will be emailed on or before October 15th or you can pick up a paper copy at the library beginning October 15th. Click here to donate & secure a map! There will be a scavenger hunt. Not recommended for children under 8. Haunted Hedge Maze Wind through the tall, dark hedges with monsters waiting around every corner. Welcome to Haunted Gardens! For over 30 years, Colonial Gardens have run haunted events for our community. This year, come get your screams in with our Haunted Hayrides and Haunted Hedge Maze! While you're here, shop pumpkins and Halloween décor to pumpkin spice up your home. Ticketing this year will exclusively take place online to help us with timed ticketing and to reduce indoor time and contact with our staff. Haunted Gardens events are not recommended for children under the age of 8, however, we understand that each child is different, and parents can use their discretion in bringing younger children to this event. Please remember that unused tickets are non-refundable. For younger crowds, we recommend visiting our website, colonialgardenspa.com, for information about our daytime events or checking out our Children's Night Hayride. Haunted Hayride Our Haunted Hayride features a 30-minute ride through our haunted woods, monsters hiding in the shadows of every tree. Get ready for surprises, screams, and good old-fashioned scares on our most popular attraction. Tickets are purchased for a designated arrival time to help us ease parking, however, riders may ride later than the arrival timeslot depending on crowds. Hayrides begin at 7pm. Want to skip the line? Don't want to sit with strangers? Groups can book a private wagon for a flat rate of $408.16. There is no minimum number of guests, but wagons can accommodate 20-25 people depending on the age and size of guests. Haunted Hayride Ticket for One person Ages 12+: $21.65 (with 2.65 in fees) Haunted Hayride Ticket for One person Ages 3-11: $19.48 (with 2.48 in fees) Private Wagon for up to 25 People: $375 Haunted Hedge Maze Our outdoor haunted hedge maze winds you through thick, dark hedges--into the clutches of monsters lurking just around the corner. Tickets for this attraction can be purchased separately, but we encourage guests to book a combination ticket with the hayride to save a few dollars and make the most of their fun. The Haunted Hedge Maze tickets can be used after you ride your hayride. Haunted Hedge Maze Ticket: $8 Combination Ticket for Haunted Hayride and Haunted Hedge Maze: Ages 12+: $27.08 (with $3.08 in fees) Ages 3-11: $24.91 (with 2.91 in fees) Please note that tickets are discounted online compared to in the store to off-set service fees. A 60-minute Trick or Treat Excursion where children are invited to dress in their costumes, we will bring to life the tale of Spookley the Square Pumpkin, trick-or-treating around the station platform. See the park after dark- hear tragic histories, see crepuscular critters and walk the trails with a guide. Return to roast marshmallows over a fire and enjoy the evening skies. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a flashlight. Hikes leave at 5, 6, and 7 pm and have limited space. Please register for a timeslot accordingly. This is a family friendly event but consider that small children will need to walk some distance. Fee: $5/Person
Philly’s favorite fall family festival is back! Halloween Hikes and Hayrides is an evening of exploration, education, and fun. Craft magical creations with the Witches of the Woods, make s’mores by the fire, take a hayride and search for nocturnal creatures, chat with our woodland friends on an evening hike, watch Halloween classics outside on the big screen, and so much more! Support the Schuylkill Center during our largest annual fundraising event and experience the woods in a whole new light. Can’t make it on Friday? Halloween Hikes and Hayrides is also open on Saturday, October 25. Tickets for both dates can be purchased at the ticket link below. Online Tickets: Members: $20 Non-Members: $28 Walk-In Tickets: $33 Children 3 and under: free! Online sales end on Thursday, October 23 at 5:00pm. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, the Schuylkill Center relies on the revenue of ticket sales to create vibrant, educational, fun events. This year, we’re transforming the Widener Trail into a living gallery of glowing jack-o-lanterns. Show off your carving skills and give your creative creatures the audience they deserve on the Pumpkin Path. If you’d like to join the Pumpkin Path, sign-up while registering and save $5 on your purchase! A pumpkin carved with the Schuylkill Center leaf logo. Photo: Jerome Eno All submissions must adhere to the following guidelines: Pumpkins should be carved, not painted. No additional materials may be added. Pumpkins should be washed prior to carving in order to ensure there are no chemicals on the surface. Do not add any chemicals to preserve your jack-o-lantern. Do not place any candles in your pumpkin. We will provide electric tealights for pumpkins. If you’d prefer to add your own light, please make it battery powered, with no flames. Please keep the contents of the carving family friendly! We reserve the right to remove any pumpkins that we feel are inappropriate for Halloween Hikes & Hayrides. You are welcome to pick up your pumpkin at the end of the evening or leave it with us for composting FOREST FRIENDS HIKE Have you ever wanted to ask a possum why they play dead? Or perhaps you’re wondering what a fox really has to say? Join our environmental educators on a guided hike along the trail to meet some of our favorite nocturnal friends and get your questions answered, straight from the fox’s mouth! Flashlights encouraged. HALLOWEEN HAYRIDES Join our Land & Facilities team for a ride around the Schuylkill Center and get a unique angle of the forest on the back of our tractor for this classic family hayride. Keep an eye out for nighttime creatures! They are extra curious this time of year. CRAFTS FOR KIDS Get ready for Halloween with some special nature crafts. Craft your very own magic wand or make a custom trick-or-treating bag with decorations from the forest and fields of the Schuylkill Center. FOOD AND DRINK If you’re hungry or thirsty, we’ll have plenty of options. Each ticket purchased comes with a s’mores kit for roasting by the fire. Concessions include popcorn, hot chocolate, drinks from Yard’s Beer Garden, and exciting options from local food truck vendors
Kids join us for a fun night out! We will be painting this spooky pumpkin house canvas! *This is a parent drop off workshop. Parents drop off their children and come back to pick them up once the workshop is over at 8pm. Project will be taken home at conclusion of workshop. *Canvas paint stains clothing. Please dress your child appropriately.
