Storytime at Penn Cinema is a Saturday morning hangout designed just for little kids and their families. Each event starts with a guest reader sharing a favorite picture book, turning the theater into a cozy story circle. After the read-aloud, a quick movement break, lead by a pediatric occupational therapist, offers an opportunity for kids to wiggle, stretch, and burn off a little energy before settling in. The morning wraps up with a family friendly movie that brings the spirit of the story to life on the big screen. Storytime is all about the idea that stories don’t stop when the book closes — they grow through play, movement, and shared moments together. It’s part reading time, part playtime, and part movie adventure, thoughtfully built for kids ages 3–6 (but all ages are welcome) and the adults who love watching them fall in love with stories. Storytime typically takes place on the last Saturday of the month at 9:30am (check the schedule for any exceptions). Tickets are just $8 for kids and includes admission and a Snack Pack (kids size popcorn, drink, and fruit snacks). Tickets are required for adults, but are free with the purchase of a kids ticket (limit two adults per child). For the comfort of our youngest viewers, the sound level will be reduced and the the lights will be lowered but remain on throughout the movie. Quiet talking and movement is welcome during these showings.
