From Flag Day through Labor Day weekend, the grounds will come alive every Saturday with engaging, hands-on demonstrations that bring 18th-century life into vivid focus. Visitors can explore the daily experiences of Revolutionary War soldiers, witness traditional hearth cooking, and learn skilled crafts like tape weaving and wood turning. Additional demonstrations include historic laundry practices, trades of the period, and other immersive activities that reveal the rhythms of early American life. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply looking for a fun weekend outing, Living History Saturdays offer a dynamic and educational experience for all ages. Watch Toy Story 4 while you decorate Toy Story themed cookies and enjoy movie theater snacks. This in-person event is the perfect to enjoy with friends and family.     Bring the kiddos out for a fun day learning about plants and butterflies! Create a miniature butterfly garden during this fun & informatie spring workshop! Mix and match a variety of colorful annual plants that will attract butterflies. All plants and supplies will be included. Appropriate for children 3 and up, younger children will need adult assistance. This workshop is limited to 20 people. Each person must purchase a ticket to participate, it is not allowed for two people to “share” one ticket.     Saturdays, June 27, July 4, 11, 18, and 25 Drop in between 10 am and 1 pm Kids Dig History is back this summer starting on June 27! Get your hands dirty at the archaeology dig and in the kitchen garden. Screen dirt to look for artifacts such as redware pottery and animal bones, then help wash and dry brush artifacts in the lab. Try your hand at planting, weeding, or harvesting vegetables. Depending on the day, additional pop-up living history programs will be happening simultaneously. Location: The Speaker’s House, 151 W.   • Kids Butterfly Puddler (Smoketown Location)

    Bring the little ones and learn how to create a hydration station for butterflies! A butterfly puddler is a shallow dish filled with stones and water. While butterflies get energy from nectar, they need "puddling stations" to absorb vital salts and nutrients (like sodium)necessary for hydration, reproduction, and overall strength. In this workshop kids will be making a small puddler with a clay saucer and gluing marbles and pieces of tile to the bottom. Appropriate for children 6 and up. This workshop is limited to 20 people.     Valley Forge 50/250 Celebration: Visitor Gateway When: Friday, July 3, 2026 from 9am to 5pm Where: Visitor Center at Valley Forge (shuttle stop 1) This 4th of July weekend, begin your visit to Valley Forge National Historical Park at the visitor center and plan your 50/250 experience! Talk to a park ranger, pick up your Junior Ranger activity book, celebrate the people's park with the My Valley Forge Story exhibit, and listen to engaging stories from Revolutionary War history provided by Historic Philadelphia Inc. Walk or take the special event shuttle to Muhlenberg's Brigade to see the opening ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of Valley Forge National Historical Park and the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
