This will be the 13th year for our public demo and education day held at Old Dry Road Farm near Blue Marsh Lake, Wernersville, PA (Berks County) on Saturday August 1 from 9am to 4pm.This is a free, fun, family event to promote the craft of blacksmithing. There will be forging stations set up for demonstrations and for open forging by members of the public. For children there will be forging sessions using clay (no fire) to experience what forging is like.There will be a forging contest for chapter members and others to partake in. A food truck will be on site for food purchases. Tailgating and sales: no charge for traditional "tail-gate sales" of used equipment, etc out of your vehicle. $20 fee must be paid to Old Dry Road Farm for OTHER sales (selling your forged products, commercial sales, other craft sales, etc). Iron Master of the Day Item: Sharp Edged Device Iron In The Hat Auction. This will be a big public event for our chapter, so tell friends & family, and publicize it far & near. PABA MEMBERS: We’ll need help supervising the public as they try their hand at forging, or lend a hand in the kids area and show them how iron and clay are forged similarly. If you are able, please come early and help with setup! Contact Will Smith with any questions. Families and friends- join us for a look into the creek critters that call our waters home and learn why they are so important! All participants should expect to wade into our rocky stream, so wear close toed shoes that can get wet- ie: old sneakers, water shoes, etc. Bring an extra pair of dry footwear for afterwards. Geared towards families with children ages 6+.

Then, upcycled fasion pieces will walk the runway during the festival's main event: the Recycled Fashion Show! The whole family will enjoy this full day of community, art, and sustainable fashion so come out and experience Angelica Creek Park in a creative, new way!
We’re excited to partner with Highland Orchards for a meet and greet event on Saturday, August 1st, from 12 - 2 PM. This family-friendly weekend event features live music, food trucks, a beer garden, pick-your-own fruit, and us! Take a break from the festivities to visit with some of our awesome adoptable dogs and dedicated volunteers. Our pups are always up for belly-rubs, and our volunteers will gladly answer your questions about our rescue, adoption process, and foster/volunteer opportunities. Please join us - you might just meet your next best friend! Our Meet & Greets are a great way to get to know us, ask questions, and meet some of our adoptable dogs. While we do not process adoptions at these events, approved adopters can meet potential forever family members and bring them home at an adoption appointment later that same day if he/she is a fit with the whole family. Already an approved adopter and hoping to meet your new family member at this event? Please bring cash or check for the adoption fee. For those just considering adopting, our Meet & Greets are a great way to get a feel for the types of dogs we have available. And for those who just LOVE dogs and want to pet them or learn about fostering/volunteering opportunities, we’re here for you, too! Interested in adopting? To celebrate America's 250th birthday, Kutztown Day in the Kutztown Park, the annual celebration of the founding of Kutztown, focuses on the Kutztown area's role in the colonial era and the early days of our country. A special history trail featuring photos and facts about 18th century Kutztown winds through a playground for the kids. Several bands will play music throughout the day. Bring a picnic lunch or purchase from several food vendors. Games and contests will entertain everyone. The day ends with a spectacular fireworks display.

Family Movie Night is Back! We have another great lineup planned for this summer's Family Movie Night series: Aug 15: Zootopia 2 Sept 19: The Minecraft Movie Oct 10: Wicked As always, feel free to bring your lawn chairs, beach towels and favorite snacks down to borough hall every movie night this summer. Join us for our first-ever Inspiring Wellness Fair at The Reading Public Museum! This will be a family friendly celebration of our wonderful healthcare community in Berks County. Over 20 community healthcare organizations will be on hand to share resources and even provide some health screenings. Reservations are not needed to attend this event as a visitor. Come out and enjoy our beautiful museum and grounds while learning all about what the healthcare community in Berks County is all about! Museum Admissions will be free this day, but donations are always appreciated to help support events like this.
Join us at The Candy Lab August 24-28,2026 for our “End of” Summer Camp, 10am-noon. Each two-hour session costs $40 (plus $2.40 sales tax). Perfect for ages 6+! On this guided hike, we'll point out common plants and animals found in Angelica Creek Park and highlight the simple ways to recognize and differentiate these species. Fun is the target for this basic archery class! First, learn how to safely participate in this sport from Berks Nature's certified instructor the head outside for some real target practice. As a certified archery club, Berks Nature instructors will provide all necessary training and equipment. The adventure is best for children ages 7-13. Please note, end times are approximate.
