Sights in Sand: An American Road Trip
Buckle up and unfold your map! The giant sand sculptures are returning this summer. For the fifth consecutive year, Peddler’s Village will present a Village-wide sand sculpture display created by world-renowned sand artists. “Sights in Sand: An American Road Trip” will celebrate the iconic landmarks and history of our nation, now in its 250th year. It’s not every day you can travel across the county in just an hour or two (by foot, no less!) to experience the five major regions–Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest, and West–and the fantastic features of each. But this year at Peddler’s Village, we’ve made it possible! You’ll see the Statue of Liberty, the Kennedy Space Center, Mount Rushmore, the Golden Gate Bridge, and more. This free display is open to the public and will be on view to Village pedestrians through August 31. In addition to viewing the sand sculptures, visitors can shop at 60 specialty store and boutiques, dine indoors or outside, and enjoy spectacular gardens and landscaping. Families can enjoy Giggleberry Fair, the indoor fun center. Spacious overnight accommodations are available at the Golden Plough Inn.

Waynesborough is a National Historic Landmark in Paoli, PA. Situated on ten lush acres, the Georgian-style House was once the home of the colorful, brash and deeply committed Revolutionary War hero, General Anthony Wayne. Seven generations of the Wayne family continuously owned the property from 1724 until 1965. In 1980, a group of interested local residents and organizations together with Easttown Township raised funds to purchase Waynesborough from the current owner, to save this historic property and ensure it would be preserved for new generations of visitors. Easttown Township, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission needed a skilled partner to administrate and preserve their newly acquired house museum and the sprawling 18th century estate linked to America’s Revolutionary War history. The group turned to the highly experienced PhilaLandmarks who agreed at once to take on the responsibility. Thus beginning a successful relationship now extending into its fourth decade. There will be an introductory video followed by a tour of the house. Tours start every 45 minutes starting at 12:00pm, 12:45pm, 1:30pm, 2:15pm, 3:00pm

Experience a pivotal moment in local history at the Muhlenberg House, commemorating the 250th anniversary of Henry and Mary Muhlenberg’s return to Trappe in July 1776. Fleeing the uncertainty of war in Philadelphia after the Declaration of Independence, the Muhlenbergs sought refuge in what they hoped would be a peaceful new home—though history would soon prove otherwise. Throughout the day, visitors can explore the house on tours led by interpreters in period clothing stationed in each room and explore the colonial herb garden. Living history demonstrations will showcase the skills and daily tasks of the 1700s. Kids can join in colonial-era games and hands-on activities, making this a fun and engaging experience for the whole family. A full-size Conestoga wagon will also be on display, illustrating how families like the Muhlenbergs transported their belongings across the countryside. The Speaker's House and kitchen garden will also be open for tours and are included with paid admission for the Move-In Day event. Location: The Muhlenberg House, 201 W. Main St. Trappe, PA. Parking will be available across the street at St. Luke’s Church, 200 W. Main St. Cost: $10 Members. $12 Non-Members. Kids are free. Check-in at the Visitor Center behind the Muhlenberg House to purchase tickets.
