Saturdays, June 13 through September 5 10 am to 4 pm Step into the past this summer at the Speaker’s House with our Living History Saturdays series, kicking off on Flag Day weekend. From Flag Day through Labor Day weekend, the grounds will come alive every Saturday with engaging, hands-on demonstrations that bring 18th-century life into vivid focus. Visitors can explore the daily experiences of Revolutionary War soldiers, witness traditional hearth cooking, and learn skilled crafts like tape weaving and wood turning. Additional demonstrations include historic laundry practices, trades of the period, and other immersive activities that reveal the rhythms of early American life. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply looking for a fun weekend outing, Living History Saturdays offer a dynamic and educational experience for all ages. Join us each week to discover the stories, skills, and traditions that shaped our nation. Location: The Speaker’s House, 151 W. Main St. Trappe, PA. Parking is on-site. The Gay Street Open-Air Market returns for 2026 from Friday, May 1st to Sunday, September 27th!  The Open-Air Market gives residents and visitors more space to shop, eat, and explore town. Four blocks of Gay Street are closed to vehicles every weekend, transforming into a pedestrian-friendly destination that is perfect for outdoor dining, boutique shopping, and leisurely strolls.  Important Details:• Where: Gay Street (from Matlack Street to Darlington Street)• When: Every weekend (Friday morning through Monday morning) from May 1st – September 27th• Website: www.downtownwestchester.com/openairmarket• Parking: www.downtownwestchester.com/parking  General Notes:• The streets are closed from roughly Friday at 8am to Monday at 8am.• Gay Street will also be closed to vehicles on Monday holidays and will start early on Thursdays ahead of Friday holidays.• Construction for new bollards is underway at several intersections on Gay Street. Some areas may be impacted on Friday mornings/afternoons, but should be open by Friday evenings. The goal is to have this project completed by June.• This event is rain or shine. Shopping/dining in the street will most likely be unavailable until the bad weather passes, but Gay Street will remain closed.• Due to Facebook's limitations, we couldn’t list every single date the Open-Air Market runs for. This will be the 13th year for our public demo and education day held at Old Dry Road Farm near Blue Marsh Lake, Wernersville, PA (Berks County) on Saturday August 1 from 9am to 4pm.This is a free, fun, family event to promote the craft of blacksmithing. There will be forging stations set up for demonstrations and for open forging by members of the public. For children there will be forging sessions using clay (no fire) to experience what forging is like.There will be a forging contest for chapter members and others to partake in. A food truck will be on site for food purchases. Tailgating and sales: no charge for traditional "tail-gate sales" of used equipment, etc out of your vehicle. $20 fee must be paid to Old Dry Road Farm for OTHER sales (selling your forged products, commercial sales, other craft sales, etc). Iron Master of the Day Item: Sharp Edged Device Iron In The Hat Auction. This will be a big public event for our chapter, so tell friends & family, and publicize it far & near. PABA MEMBERS: We’ll need help supervising the public as they try their hand at forging, or lend a hand in the kids area and show them how iron and clay are forged similarly. If you are able, please come early and help with setup! Contact Will Smith with any questions. PLUS, after all day helping with the public and participating in the forging contest; we’ll still need help at the end to get everything loaded and the site cleaned up. Please hang around and help. We’re excited to partner with Highland Orchards for a meet and greet event on Saturday, August 1st, from 12 - 2 PM. This family-friendly weekend event features live music, food trucks, a beer garden, pick-your-own fruit, and us! Take a break from the festivities to visit with some of our awesome adoptable dogs and dedicated volunteers. Our pups are always up for belly-rubs, and our volunteers will gladly answer your questions about our rescue, adoption process, and foster/volunteer opportunities. Please join us - you might just meet your next best friend! Our Meet & Greets are a great way to get to know us, ask questions, and meet some of our adoptable dogs. While we do not process adoptions at these events, approved adopters can meet potential forever family members and bring them home at an adoption appointment later that same day if he/she is a fit with the whole family. Already an approved adopter and hoping to meet your new family member at this event? Please bring cash or check for the adoption fee. For those just considering adopting, our Meet & Greets are a great way to get a feel for the types of dogs we have available.
