Join the Friends of Ridley Creek State Park trail crew on their monthly trail maintenance excursions where they care for park trails, remove invasive plants and other fun outdoor activities that greatly help our state parks. Enjoy some social time as well with others who care about natural resources and a healthy environment. The friends trail crew meets on the first Saturday of every month from 0900-1200 hrs and is open to all interested folks. Registration not required.

To celebrate America's 250th birthday, Kutztown Day in the Kutztown Park, the annual celebration of the founding of Kutztown, focuses on the Kutztown area's role in the colonial era and the early days of our country. A special history trail featuring photos and facts about 18th century Kutztown winds through a playground for the kids. Several bands will play music throughout the day. Bring a picnic lunch or purchase from several food vendors. Games and contests will entertain everyone. The day ends with a spectacular fireworks display.

Celebrate Smokey Bear's birthday (rescued as an orphaned cub in a forest fire on August 9, 1944) by joining your DCNR Park Naturalist for a special hands on exhibit along the Multi-Use Trail about bears of the world. Learn about wildfire prevention and bear safety tips. Discover how bears fit in the ecosystem as both predators and scavengers.  Most bear species are in trouble from habitat loss and poaching exploitation for traditional folk medicines. Explore the diversity of bears found around the world, including Pennsylvania's own American Black Bear, while taking a close up look at skulls, tracks, scat, models and photos of these magnificent animals. Witness hundreds of butterflies floating on the wind! Wander through manicured gardens, visit local artisans, and learn about an amazing pollinator and how we can help them. Join us for Colonial Gardens’ annual Butterfly Festival and experience all this and more! This year, we will be releasing hundreds of butterflies, typically monarch butterflies. All guests are welcome to learn about these magnificent creatures, their lives and their threats during our seminars, patronize our local crafters, and enjoy the gardens. Those folks who make a reservation will have the opportunity to release a butterfly during one of our mass releases. There are four mass release opportunities. Each reservation entitles you to release one butterfly at the timeslot you select: 10AM, 12PM, 2PM, or 4PM. If you do not wish to release a butterfly, you may attend the event for free, without a reservation or ticket. The event also includes: Local artisans, vendors, and nonprofits Four educational seminars about monarch butterflies Lush, beautiful gardens to wander Native and pollinator-friendly plants for purchase Hayrides through our woods for $5/person Because this event is outdoors, we do have a rain date of Sunday, August 24th. Join us for our 4th Annual Phoenixville Car Show at Reeves Park! We will be closing off 2nd and 3rd Avenues like in years past and over 100 cars will be in attendance. We will have live music, food and refreshments, merchandise, 50/50 raffle and trophies. Come out with your car or walk around and enjoy the show. If your child loves fidgets, squishies and trading, this is the event for them! Aubriella’s Fidget Fest is a fun, organized community fidget trading experience for kids ages 7-14. Participants will enjoy a supervised afternoon of trading their favorite fidgets and squishies, meeting other collectors, making fair trades and enjoying snacks and drinks. Registration is $15 per child and space is limited to 30 participants. A parent or legal guardian must be present with each child participating.
