We do have a microwave and a refrigerator in our downstairs kitchenette and we will have a table set up with a power strip available for crock pots if needed. You can pick up your book from Miss Lizzie, our Youth Services Coordinator at the library, who has them checked out and ready for our program. Sign up to share a recipe from our collection of picture books with recipes. Read the story and prepare the dish at home. Bring your dish to the library to share. The library will provide paper plates, napkins, forks and spoons. Please be prepared to bring your own serveware. Miss Lizzie will also provide cards to label your dish and highlight ingredients so that folks can be allergy/food aware.

Come to our Pleiades Observatory at the Churchville Nature Center and learn about what’s in the night sky this time of year! On Friday, January 23rd at 7:00 pm, learn about the moon and planets, then get the chance to look at them through our telescopes. Highlights of the evening can include the waxing crescent moon and the Planet Jupiter. Admission is $8/person. Registration is required. FOR ALL AGES Connect your family with the outdoors on this fun, interactive nature exploration designed to spark curiosity and wonder. Seek out the day’s wonders at the Arboretum, uncovering plants, animals, and other seasonal highlights that bring the landscape to life. Led by knowledgeable guides, your adventure may take you to the pond, through shady woodland trails, or into sunny meadows — each offering its own unique discoveries. Using simple tools like magnifying glasses, you’ll take a closer look at the natural world and learn more about its hidden connections. About your guide: Forest Knight is one of Tyler’s Lead Educators. Forest joined Tyler’s Education Department in April of last year, and they help run the Arboretum’s field trips and summer camp programs. They have a love of nature and have worked in the outdoor education field for 4+ years. PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED The program is best suited for elementary school-aged children accompanied by an adult. Family and siblings of any age are welcome. Check in at the Visitor Center, where you’ll meet your guide. As with any walk at Tyler, sturdy shoes are suggested. PLEASE NOTE: Strollers may not be ideal on some of our trails. We recommend a carrier if you plan to bring an infant or young child. Weather or other factors may adjust the day’s topic, but nature will always shine through! In case of inclement weather, the tour will move indoors. MEMBERS: FREE NON-MEMBERS: $18 per adult; $10 per child ages 3-17; children two and under are free and do not need to be registered.
