Booking on ticketsauce is the only way to guarantee your ticket for this event! Children's Night Hayride & Pumpkinland Mazes Our Children's Night Hayride gives young riders a chance to experience a slightly spookier hayride through our woods at night. The Children's Night Hayride is appropriate for most children. Spooky elements include darkness, spooky scenes, eerie lights, loud noises, and some monsters that keep their distance. We rely on parents to make the right decisions for their family. Children ages 2 and under participate in our events for free when accompanied by a paid adult. Your timeslot indicates your arrival time. You may wait in line and right later than your time slot, depending on crowds. Our children's mazes allow children to wind, climb, and play through three different small mazes. Ticket holders receive a wristband which gives the wearer unlimited runs through the mazes throughout the event. These mazes are also open in the daytime, alongside our Daytime Hayride, if this event runs past your child's bedtime. Combination Ticket for Children's Night Hayride and Pumpkinland Mazes: Ages 12+: $18 Ages 3-11: $16 Hayrides are not available for separate purchase, but we understand that some children are too young for the hayride, but would still like to participate in Pumpkinland and the mazes. The Daniel Boone Homestead Associates are excited to celebrate the arrival of fall with the Homestead’s annual Heritage Day event. In conjunction with this event, we are thrilled to be partnering with the Exeter Friends Meetinghouse for open house tours to commemorate their 300th anniversary. Heritage Day features a variety of eighteenth-century demonstrations, trades, and hands-on activities. These include gunsmithing, blacksmithing, open-hearth cooking, spinning and wool dyeing, quill pen writing, candle dipping, leatherworking, and the apothecary and surgeon. The ever-popular colonial musician Bob Mouland will be returning this year. The event will also feature craft and specialty food vendors as well as fall activities for children like pumpkin painting. In the Boone House, volunteers will be cooking a hearty meal over the hearth, while Bob Mouland treats guests to colonial music in the English parlor. Visitors can also tour the Boone House and spring cellar and learn about the three families who lived there during the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Throughout the historic area, visitors can learn about the intricate work of a leatherworker, the detailed work of a gunsmith, and the skillful work of a blacksmith. Make sure to visit the Apothecary presentation featuring a display of period medical instruments and learn about the role of the doctor and surgeon during the eighteenth century. Stop by the colonial fur trader and trapper and learn about the ways European settlers used animal hides and pelts. Volunteers will also be demonstrating wool dyeing, spinning, and quilting, and visitors will have the unique opportunity to tour the three-room Bertolet Log House. In addition to demonstrations and trades, there will be a variety of eighteenth-century hands-on activities for children and adults to enjoy including candle dipping, quill pen writing, and colonial toys and games. Don’t’ forget to visit the Exeter Friends Meetinghouse on your way to or from the Homestead. The Exeter Friends Meeting was originally established in 1725 as Oley and later changed its name to Exeter in 1742. It is where the Quaker Boone family would have attended monthly meeting. The original log structure that was frequented by the Boones was replaced by the current stone structure in 1759. The Meetinghouse will be open for tours throughout the afternoon and is located a little over two miles from the Homestead at 191 Meetinghouse Road, Douglassville, PA 19518.
