If we are planning to visit Lancaster I am always looking for a farm experience because we love animals so much and it is always a family-friendly activity that everyone can enjoy. We visited Old Windmill Farm for one of their tours, but prior to the start time we arrived early to visit the free Lil Country Store & Miniature Horse Farm that sits right in front of the Farm’s entrance.
We had originally visited a few years ago and you’ll find a few alpacas, goats and several horses you can pet and feed. Containers of feed are available for sale on an honor system with a designated place to deposit your cash payment. We did a bag of feed for $1 and they have containers for $5 and other options. Saddle and Cart rides are also available for purchase at $7 and the saddle rides have a 70lb weight limit.

The Old Windmill Farm offers several tours and experiences, we were hosted and were able to experience the Amish Farm Tour which is about 60 minutes and included some one-of-a-kind experiences! The tour started with a mule pulled wagon ride through the farm. I loved learning about the animals and farming plus they even let attendees take turns steering the mules!

When we arrived to our next stop we had so many amazing activities waiting for us that included feeding and petting horses, bottle feeding calves and our favorite holding baby animals!

I was so excited to see that we also had the opportunity to milk a cow, I have never been anywhere that offered something like this and new it would most likely be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. After this we helped picked eggs from the chicken coop and had the best snuggle with a baby kitten. Once the tour is done, there are additional activities like barrel train rides, fresh pretzels, more animals and a playground.

I highly recommend a tour here, we had the best time, check out the pricing below and link to learn more about this and other tours.
